Varsity Match and Local Club Sponsorships
CURUFC was established in the 1871/2 season and is one of the most renowned amateur sporting clubs in the world. It has produced over 320 international players including Gerald Davis (previous British and Irish Lions Manager), John Spencer (previous British and Irish Lions Manager) Rob Andrew (previous RFU Elite Manager), Gavin Hastings, Alistair Hignell, Damien Hopley (CEO of the Professional Players Association), Tony Underwood, Paul Ackford and more recently Simon Amor (England Sevens Coach), Joe Ansbro (Northampton Saints/London Irish) and Ben Woods (Leicester Tigers).
The club is made up Men’s and Women’s First, Second and Third teams. The Women and Men's second team play in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) National League whilst the Men’s first team play against a variety of opposition including clubs, universities, representative teams and the military. Both first teams play an annual Varsity Match against Oxford University at Twickenham.
The linked organisation CURFU (Cambridge University Rugby Football Union) is the representative constituent body for the 22 College rugby teams which play against one another. There are over 600 Men and Women playing rugby within the University.
Both CURUFC and CURFU are independently managed, receiving no funding from the University Sports Syndicate, and therefore actively seek partnerships with corporate businesses to ensure the provision of rugby for all students. Our current sponsorship brochure contains the various ways that businesses may be able to help. We also are involved with the local Community supporting charitable causes. If you have any questions, contact Andrew McGahey.
For specific information about sponsoring the Varsity Matches please see Varsity Match sponsorship.
We are extremely grateful to all our current Sponsors and Supporters.
