CURUFC is delighted to announce Zoë Wright (Clare) and Nathan Bottomley (Trinity) as Captains for the 2026/27 season.
Zoë won her first Blue as a fresher in 2025 but missed out on the 2025/6 season with an ACL injury. She continued to make a huge contribution to the women’s section by helping to coach our development teams and inspiring with her diligent approach to rehab and strength and conditioning. Here’s what she had to say:
“It’s an honour to have been elected as Captain of CURUFC Women for the upcoming 2026-7 season. There’s an energy about the club right now that is difficult to explain; for the first time in several years, we have real continuity across the section going into next year. For me, CURUFC is more than just a club. I have experienced both elation and heartbreak with these girls, and there is no group of people I’d rather lead next season. I could not be more excited about the direction we’re heading in.”
Nate has made two Varsity Match appearances for the Blues at fly half. His on-pitch leadership was mirrored in his off-pitch efforts as secretary this past season. Here is what he had to say:
“I feel incredibly honoured to have been elected Captain of CURUFC Men’s Blues for the 2026/27 season. This club means a great deal to me and its rich history makes it a truly special place to be part of. I’m looking forward to working alongside such a talented and committed group of players in the upcoming season.”
