The final week of term saw the inaugural ‘Clash of Codes’ match between the LXs and CURLFC, a dynamic and challenging affair in which the first half is played by Union laws, and the latter by League. Both sides brought plenty of supporters and end-of-term energy to Grange Road, who were motivated just as much by the novelty of the game as by the ‘keg-clear-out’ event hosted by the bar, which ensured no post-Bodgers stock was left unenjoyed!
Though the LXs opened up a good first half, leading 22-9, it wasn’t quite enough to withstand CURLFC’s experience with the League game. Despite a 100% conversion rate and some fabulous late-stage tries as the LXs settled in to the League half, they were ultimately defeated in a final score of 37-34.
The LXs, alongside the rest of the squads, now look towards building strength over the Christmas break so they can hit the ground running in January, when preparation for the Varsity Matches moves up a gear.
