We’re proud to announce the teams for the 2s and 3s Varsity Matches taking place this weekend, aiming to overturn last year’s defeats. After some strong preparation, the LX Club and the Tigers have wins under their belt and are ready to take on Oxf*rd.
LX CLUB AND CENTURIONS VARSITY MATCHES
The Men’s 2s and 3s Varsity will take place on the 21st of February at Grange Road.
There will be plenty on offer in the fanzone on the big day, including a Greene King Bar, Meat Up, Hot Numbers, and the beloved Tin Bin. For all your merch needs, Jim’s Jerseys will be in attendance, selling their custom CURUFC x Jim’s Jerseys kit.

This dynamic group of players has had an action-packed term of fixtures, culminating in the LX’s test against Phillippines Maharlikans, which they won 40-15.
We spoke to LXs Captain Charlie Forgacz-Cooper, who gave some key insights into the LX Club’s lineup:
“Coming off a strong performance against Philippines Maharlikans, the LXs are looking to secure a historic victory in the first Varsity Match on the new Mumford pitch. Owen Branthwaite and Will Meaden are particular highlights in a strong backline, with both making their LX debut on Saturday 21st. Michel Quist captains the side, as the Selwyn 2nd year has demonstrated himself to be a hard carrier and stellar lineout operator in his first season playing for the club. Fresher talent such as Archie Joyner and Kacper Wieczorek add to a forward pack which secured set-piece perfection last Saturday and looks to establish a platform for the backline to fly against The Other Place this weekend.”

It’s the Women’s Squad’s turn to head over to the Other Place for their Varsity Matches on Sunday 22nd February.

A fierce group of players who have already proved themselves against Oxf*rd and looking to go 2-1 out of three total games this season, the Tigers are set to make their mark on Iffley Road next Sunday.
They are captained by Noor Shariff Mitchell (Newnham), who gave us the following insight on their season:
“The Tigers have had a good season so far with a dominating win over ARU and close games with Oxford as highlights. Going into the Varsity Match the score stands at 1-1. We’ve had a glimpse of a well-oiled Tigers team from ARU which we’ll take into our game.
The tigers dream is a team dream and we hope to show off our back strike moves and a solid scrum. Make sure to look out for star players with Bethan’s massive tackles and powerful carries by Eugenia!”
