The CURUFC women were defeated 10-43 by Cardiff University in a closely fought encounter at Shelford Rugby Club. The game was evenly balanced for the first 50 minutes, with the Light Blues failing to take a couple of chances when close to the Cardiff line. Unfortunately, the depth of squad and fire power available to the Welsh visitors was enough to see them take the win at a canter in the final 15 minutes.
Captain Laura Bleehen (Girton) will be largely pleased with the performance, which included a promising platform up front and some attacking edge in the backs. However, there is also still clearly work to be done and failure to reach the final of the BUCS Vase will give the women plenty to think about as they prepare for the Varsity Match on 2nd April at Twickenham.
